September 14th: Morning Routines for the Young at Heart
The mornings can be nightmares for many parents. Kids running late, breakfast on the run, backpacks left behind, missing clothes, power struggles and yelling. It’s not what we want, but it’s often what we get.
Listen in on a conversation I had with two moms who between them have seven kids ranging in age from 9 months to 14 years and hear what they had to say about
- The ideal morning routine – their idea of a morning routine might surprise you.
- What trips us up from creating these peaceful and efficient morning routines.
- Tips and “How Tos” for developing YOUR perfect Morning Routine.
The ultimate goal is to create, maintain, and improve the Morning Routine, so that everyone in the family leaves the house feeling refreshed, connected, and prepared for the day.
Each parent, each child and each family is unique.

Hi Vicki, Jennifer and Kathy,
I just watched your video on morning routines. I have a 9, 7, and 5 year old and our mornings have been going pretty well for some time so I thought “I don’t need help with this!” Then this morning happened! My kindergardener just flat out decided he wasn’t going to school. I have been reflecting on why this happened because he had been doing so well. I started to worry because he was playing and not making a lunch – and it just turned into major drama! I so connected with what Jennifer said about convincing the child that he wants to go to school. It so clear to me now that if I had just let the morning progress without my reminding, he would have gone to school without an issue. I’ll be keeping some duct tape close by tomorrow morning…..
Very helpful video – thanks so much!!
Tonia
Hi Tonia,
Glad you enjoyed it. I should have bought stock in duct tape 20 years ago. I could retire by now. LOL.
