Mothers Wanted!

Recently, Parenting On Track™ teamed up with the National Association of Mothers’ Centers (NAMC) in hopes to facilitate the creation of a Mothers’ Center in our home state of Vermont.
What is NAMC?
The National Association of Mothers’ Centers recognizes the challenges and realities of being a mother today and they’re here to help. For over 30 years the NAMC has supported the creation of programs for mothers where they can connect with other mothers, gain support, learn about resources and make the job of parenting easier for the entire family.
What is a Mothers’ Center?
A Mothers’ Center is a place where mothers can meet other mothers; create friendships; share experiences on a variety of issues in a non-judgmental atmosphere; build self-confidence; learn, listen and be listened to. Each Mothers’ Center runs activities specifically designed for the needs of its members and is run by a core group of volunteers.
How does NAMC support each Mothers’ Center?
NAMC provides a step-by-step guide to starting a center, as well as consulting, training, networking with other centers, an informational quarterly newsletter, monthly eNews and national and regional conferences.
How will forming a Mothers’ Center benefit our community?
All NAMC Mothers’ Centers share core concepts that
- Promote respect for and knowledge about mothering;
- Include informative programs and activities that inspire a high level of personal growth for participants; and
- Provide a structure that encourages involvement and ownership by participants, as well as a supportive group environment.
Over 90% of participants in a Mothers’ Center report increased confidence in themselves as parents, better communication with their children, more success in advocacy for themselves and their children, and an increased knowledge in available resources and support.
It all sounds pretty great, huh? Here’s where you come in.
We need YOU – your knowledge, passion, dedication and time – in order to get a Mothers’ Center off the ground. We will be accepting applications for membership in a volunteer Mothers’ Center Development Committee over the next two months. So if you, or someone you know, are interested (or want a little bit more information) please contact us at 888-660-7668 or email us at vicki@parentingontrack.com.
We are really excited to be a part of an innovative, community-building project and know you will be too!
“Being a member of my local Mothers’ Center has given me the sense of community that I was missing. At the center I meet other mothers who are experiencing the same kind of feelings that I am. I don’t feel isolated and alone anymore.”
“Mothers’ Center is like home. It’s a place I can go and know that I will always find friendship, warmth, compassion and understanding.”
